We are a start-up non profit for
students, by students. Jeremy Kouffman, our CEO, is a
pre-law undergrad at the University of California Davis, and
many on our team are also undergrads or recent graduates of
the University of California system.
Our mission is to create meaningful
student jobs and place students in them. As students
ourselves, we have experienced first hand how rarely truly
worthwhile internships are opened up. Now, more then ever,
America needs to invest in its own students and its future.
The fact of the matter is, there are not enough
opportunities out there for students. We are here to fix
that problem.
Our primary goal, which sets us apart from other nonprofits
of our kind, is to actually create jobs, not just place
students in pre-existing positions. We will accomplish this
by working directly with companies. The terms of every
contract we make will vary, but the basic theory is simple:
if they are willing to offer a meaningful student internship
program, we will do what it takes to help them do it.
Message from our founder:
"The Kouffman
Foundation is proud to present our first project: Helping
Hands. The mission is simple: get as many educated students
as possible into valuable internships that either exist in
the current marketplace or have to be created by our
foundation. This foundations goal is to create a country
that nurtures its children into becoming great workers no
matter what that work ends up being. Like Abraham Lincoln
once said, “No matter what you do, do it well”. That is
what we hope to instill into our fellow students and future
generations. Not everyone needs or wants to be a doctor,
lawyer, movie or music star. There is no shame in being a
car mechanic or a personal trainer, if that is what you love
to do. It is my personal goal as well as the foundations to
get every students dream job available to them. If they put
in the work we will do the same. We will work countless
hours and knock on countless doors to make sure each one of
our students is situated in the internship of their
choosing'."
